Speaking from the White House Monday afternoon, President Trump revealed he met with four potential nominees for the Supreme Court earlier in the day. He praised them all as uniquely qualified to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy.
“In the morning I interviewed and met with four potential justices of our great Supreme Court. They are outstanding people, they are really incredible people in so many different ways, academically and every other way and I had a very, very interesting morning,” he said. “I think the person that is chosen will be outstanding."
Trump also said he plans to meet with additional candidates at the White House this week, two or three, before announcing his final choice on Monday July 9.
After spending the day on the golf course Sunday, Trump said his focus this week will be prioritized on the Supreme Court.
A big week, especially with our numerous victories in the Supreme Court. Heading back to the White House now. Focus will be on the selection of a new Supreme Court Justice. Exciting times for our country. Economy may be stronger than it has ever been!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 1, 2018
